California Speech Language Hearing Association’s Annual Convergence Conference

Exploring the Ethics and Value of Working Together: SLPs and BCBAs
Three #SLPBCBA Anna Krajcin Shirley Sastiel and Katie Jackson presented at the California Speech Language Hearing Association’s Annual Convergence Conference in San Francisco, CA on March 14, 2024.

Their course, “Exploring the Ethics and Value of Working Together: SLPs and BCBAs” discussed how the fields of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Speech-Language Therapy both treat communication issues, but interdisciplinary collaboration is often limited.

While the professions have their differences, they can also complement each other and are more similar than most SLPs realize. The dual certified SLP-BCBA authors helped to bridge the gap by discussing the similarities between the fields, the strengths of each professional, and the ethics of collaboration of care.

This course provided an outline to use for successful collaboration which emphasized the strong points of each discipline and lead to improved client care.
